3rd Floor Gallery
The 3rd Floor Gallery is a pilot project between The Gaylord Building and The Artist Guild of Lockport (TAGOL) to bring local fine artists together to produce art programming within Lockport’s historical landmark The Gaylord Building. Gallery exhibitions are curated and funded by TAGOL. The gallery is located on the third floor of the Gaylord Building in downtown Lockport.
The Gaylord Building, a site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, played a vital role in the creation of the Illinois & Michigan Canal. A landmark since 1838, this handsome limestone warehouse originally stored canal construction materials and later housed a variety of commercial ventures. Today it is a national example of adaptive reuse, community engagement, and serves as a gateway to the I&M Canal National Heritage Corridor.
The Artist Guild of Lockport (TAGOL) was founded in 2014 by an assemblage of local artists, art enthusiasts and business owners within the local community of Lockport, Illinois. TAGOL is dedicated to encouraging artistic awareness and artist participation via a wealth of programs and exhibitions designed to enhance, encourage and promote the visual fine arts in the city.
